As part of its reviews of the Long Term Athlete Development pathways for the sport, it has been identified that we should be doing more for gymnasts as they approach the end of their competitive career in Gymnastics, either to retain them within the sport as coaches or officials or to provide opportunities for them to utilize their squired skills in other sports.

British Gymnastics has recently been approached by the British Weight Lifting Association to invite any gymnasts who are retiring from Gymnastics to be part of an upcoming talent identification programme aimed at finding Olympians for 2012 and beyond."
